WARRENSBURG, Mo. — Grant Lozoya scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Pittsburg State University men's basketball team to a 99-76 victory over Harding University in day two action of the Central Region Challenge Saturday (Nov. 10) at the Multipurpose Building.
The Gorillas (1-1) bounced back from a hard-fought 95-92 season-opening loss to Wayne State College Friday with the win over the Bisons (0-2) in the two-day, classic-format tournament hosted by the University of Central Missouri.
Lozoya made 10 of 14 shots from the field in the contest. He also grabbed five rebounds and dished out three assists.
Donovan Franklin added 23 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Ray Elliott finished in double figures with 15 points.
The Gorillas generated nearly one-third of their points in the game from the foul line, converting 32 of 38 charity attempts as Harding was whistled for 30 personal fouls.
Pitt State shot 46.8 percent form the field overall (29-62).
Harding got a team-high 15 points from Gojko Divic, while Colin Hale added 12 points.
Pitt State will make its home debut at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court next Saturday (Nov. 17) when the Gorillas entertain the University of Arkansas-Fort Smith at 3 p.m. (CST).
