JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — The Pittsburg State University football team built a 28-3 halftime advantage and never looked in posting a 49-10 road win over Lincoln University Saturday (Oct. 15) at Dwight T. Reed Stadium.

Quarterback Chad Dodson Jr. completed 10 of 13 passes for 196 yards and two touchdowns in limited action to lead the Pitt State offense. He connected with wide receiver Christian Carter for a nine-yard scoring play and added a 68-yard strike to wide receiver Kolbe Katsis.

Running back Caleb Lewis carried the ball 10 times for 58 yards, including a pair of touchdown runs as the Gorillas compiled 251 ground yards in the contest.

Running backs Noah Hernandez and Cleo Chandler Jr. and backup quarterback Darius Bowers added touchdown runs on the afternoon.

The Pitt State defense registered four quarterback sacks in the game and limited LU (0-7, 0-7 MIAA) to 285 total yards overall.
Reserve linebacker Thomas Cook was credited with a team-leading eight stops for the Gorillas, while safety Brandon Mlekus and linebacker Dubem Okonkwo added seven tackles apiece.

The seventh-ranked Gorillas improved to 7-0 on the season with the win. Pitt State now holds a two-game lead in the conference standings following its win Saturday and Nebraska-Kearney's loss to Emporia State.

The Gorillas will host Missouri Western next Saturday (Oct. 22) for Homecoming at Brandenburg Field/Carnie Smith Stadium.
