Gorillas Hit Century Mark Against Lady Bronchos

EDMOND, Okla. — The hot-shooting Pittsburg State University women's basketball team rolled to a 100-76 victory over the University of Central Oklahoma Sunday (Dec. 11) at Hamilton Field House.
 
The Gorillas (8-2, 4-1 MIAA) placed six players in double figure scoring as Pitt State shot 52.2 percent from the floor in the game, making 35 of 67 shots overall.
 
Tristan Gegg led the Gorillas balanced attack with 18 points. She made five of Pitt State's 13 team 3-point field goals as the squad combined to make 13 of 26 long-range shots. Erin Davis added a season best 16 points and Alba Lozano Davila chipped in with a career high 14 points and six rebounds.
 
Grace Pyle posted 12 points and eight rebounds, while Sydney Holmes finished with 11 points and a game high nine rebounds. Karenna Gerber also scored 11 points, while Harper Schreiner and Jenna Shipley added nine points apiece. Schreiner also dishedout six of the Gorillas' 23 team assists in the contest.
 
Pitt State scored 27 points in each of the first three quarters. The Gorillas led 54-36 at halftime and 81-54 heading into the fourth quarter.
 
UCO (4-4, 1-3 MIAA) got a game high 22 points from Karly Wadsworth, while Brooke Rayner finished with 14 points.
 
The Gorillas reached the 100-point mark for the first time since beating Lincoln University, 106-67, in Pittsburg on Jan. 12, 2017.
 
Pitt State will return to action Saturday (Dec. 17) by hosting the University of Central Missouri at 5:30 p.m. (CST) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
