Matt Karleskint begins his fifth season as a member of the Pitt State coaching staff after joining the Gorillas as wide receivers coach in March 2016.
Karleskint helped the Pitt State offense rank 11th in NCAA Division II in passing yards (305.5 ypg) in 2016. He has coached five All-MIAA performers the past four seasons with Levi Copelin (2016) and Lorenzo West (2019) earning All-America accolades and Brenner Clemons garnering MIAA Freshman of the Year recognition in 2016.
Karleskint joined the Pitt State staff from Lindenwood University where he served as offensive coordinator the previous two seasons (2014-15). He also served as pass game coordintor at Lindenwood in 2013.
Prior to joining the Lindenwood staff, Karleskint served as wide receivers coach at Southeastern Oklahoma State University in 2012.
The Fort Scott, Kan., native coached the 2010 and 2011 seasons at Iowa State University as an offensive line graduate assistant.
Karleskint has additional previous coaching experience in the MIAA at Missouri Southern State University and Northwest Missouri State University. He served as offensive coordinator at MSSU from 2006-09 and he was running backs coach at NWMSU in 2004-05, serving on the Bearcats NCAA Division II National Runner-up staff in 2005. He also coached at Ottawa University in 2002-03.
Karleskint earned his bachelor’s of arts degree in health, physical education and recreation from Kansas Wesleyan University in 2002. He earned a master’s of education from Northwest Missouri State University in 2005 and Iowa State University in 2011.
Matt and his wife, Kati, have three daughters: Alli, Lilli and Graci.
