Courtney Lord


Courtney Lord enters her first season as an assistant coach for the Pittsburg State University track & field program after spending the previous three seasons at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, LA in the same capacity.
 
Lord will be responsible for coaching the long jump, triple jump, high jump, and assisting with multi event athletes.
 
In her 2 ½ years at Nicholls, Lord was responsible for the sprints, hurdles, jumps, multis, and throws. She coached her athletes to break six school records, 34 top 10 performance list, one Southland Conference champion and three all-conference athletes. The SLC champion was one of three first places finishes at a conference meet in Nicholls State track & field history. Lord was an integral part in the rebirth of the men’s program at Nicholls State.
 
In the 2020 indoor season Lord led Nicholls to the most points scored at a conference meet since 2015.  In 2021 indoor season Lord’s group of athletes contributed to Nicholls State highest team finish at a conference meet since 2015.
 
Before her time coaching at Nicholls State, Lord was the graduate assistant for Sam Houston State University, her alma mater. There she assisted with the jumps and the multis.
 
During Lord’s time as a student-athlete for Sam Houston State University, she is the school record holder in the Pentathlon and is second in school history in the Heptathlon. Lord helped her team win five Southland Conference Championships while scoring in the long jump, high jump and multi events. She specialized in the high jump, qualifying for the D1 West Preliminary round in 2016. Lord was also named SLC athlete of the week two times.
 
Lord earned her master’s degree in Sports Management and earned her bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology.
 
Lord has her USTFCCCA Technical certification as well as her Altis short sprints course certification.
