Damian Smithhisler enters his sixth year as a member of the Pittsburg State University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, his first year as Associate Athletic Director for Facilities. He previously served as Assistant Athletic Athletic Director for Facilities and as the Robert W. Plaster Center Coordinator.
Smithhisler is responsible for coordinating and executing the maintenance, scheduling, and usage of all athletics facilities, primarily the Robert W. Plaster Center, Garfield Weede Building, John Lance Arena and Gene Bicknell Sports Complex. His duties include coordinating usage for all internal and external events and serving as the liaison and primary contact for such usage by external users.
Smithhisler also monitors and addresses all maintenance and custodial needs and activities and ensures that all facility equipment is operational. Additionally, he schedules internal and external vendors and individuals regarding maintenance and repair activities.
Smithhisler came to Pittsburg State from Friends University in Wichita, Kan., where he served as the head cross country & men's track & field coach from 2012-16. Under his direction, the Falcons won 12 conference titles in four years.
Damian and his wife, Katie, live in Pittsburg and have four children: Colton, Braven, Kannon and Skylee.
