Nicolle Murphy

Nicolle Murphy begins her second year as Assistant Athletic Director for Student Success for Pittsburg State University. Murphy joined the Gorillas Athletics staff after serving as Assistant Director of Inclusion and Belonging at Pittsburg State from May 2022 to June 2024.

Murphy is responsible for developing and administering initiatives and programming to improve the overall experience, sense of belonging and wellness of Pitt State student-athletes. Her work aids in the recruitment and retention of student-athletes by ensuring a positive collegiate experience in the areas of academic achievement, physical and mental health, inclusion and belonging, leadership and personal development.

Murphy came to campus after serving as an Admissions Representative at Cowley Community College in her hometown of Arkansas City, Kan., from December 2020 to May 2022. As a collegian, she competed in track & field at the University of Minnesota, earning second-team All-America and first-team All-Big Ten honors in the javelin as a senior in 2018. She captured the Big Ten title in the discipline with a throw of 180 feet, 5 inches. Murphy twice earned first-team All-America accolades in the javelin, placing sixth at the 2015 NCAA Championships and fourth at the 2016 NCAA Championships.

Murphy graduated with a bachelor's of sport management degree from Minnesota in 2017. She completed her master's degree in sport & exercise science in 2018; and Murphy is currently pursuing a doctorate of educational leadership degree.

She is engaged to Tyrell Everett, who serves as Assistant Head Coach/Co-Defensive Coordinator on the PSU football staff.
