Gorilla Soccer Pitch
Sitting between "The Pitt" and "The Jungle" on campus, the Gorilla Soccer Pitch in its first couple of years of existence, has already drawn rave reviews and witnessed a championship team call it home.
The first match out on the pitch came on September 12, 2024, against the East Central University Tigers. Pittsburg State claimed a 1-0 win over ECU thanks to a 69th minute winner from Madison Monson.
During the 2024 season, the Gorillas went 3-3-1 (.500) at home, improving to 7-3-1 (.682) in 2025. The 2025 season would see the Gorillas host their first post season match in program history in the MIAA Tournament after claiming the MIAA regular season title.
Following the 2025 season, Pittsburg State is 10-6-2 (.611) with a 22-14 goal advantage and nine shutout performances on home turf. The Gorillas have finished one match in a scoreless draw and have been shutout three times. The highest scoring match on the pitch was a 5-1 win over Southwest Baptist on September 10, 2025 with the most lopsided defeats being 3-1 against Missouri S&T on September 7, 2026, 2-0 against Washburn on October 12, 2026 and 2-0 against Fort Hays State on September 29, 2024.
In 2024, the Gorillas ranked 20th in NCAA Division II for average attendance at 268 (1,876 in 7 matches) and in 2025 average 182 (2,011 in 11 matches).
