Volleyball Ends Its Season With Win Over Truman

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State Volleyball team ended its season on a high note with a 3-2 (25-19, 25-19, 23-25, 22-25, 16-14) win over Truman on Saturday (Nov. 12) evening in John Lance Arena.

Pitt State hit .290 for the match and tallied 77 kills, while holding Truman to a .227 attack percentage and 65 kills. The Gorillas tallied a season-high 99 digs. Truman won the blocks battle by one 7.0 to 6.0.

Each of the Pitt State players that saw court time recorded double figures in at least one category on the night. Morgan Voorhes led all players with 19 kills. She also led all players with 25 digs for a double-double. Kirsten Erikson and Leah Flynn each recorded 16 kills. Kelley Bugler earned a double-double with 15 kills and 12 digs. She also led the team with five blocks. Brooke Fay was the final player with double figure kills with 10. Setter Becca Pearson earned a double-double with 67 assists and 14 digs. Libero Christa McCaw had 20 digs and defensive specialist Samantha Wyatt added 12.

The Gorillas finish the 2011 season with a 9-22 overall record and a 6-12 record in MIAA play.
