Box Score KIRKSVILLE, Mo. -- Despite taking a set from one of the top teams in the MIAA, the Pitt State Volleyball team (11-10, 2-7 MIAA), fell 3-1 (25-12. 25-20, 22-25, 25-16) to Truman (20-4, 8-2 MIAA) on Friday night.
Pitt State found itself down 2-0 heading into the third set. There were nine ties and four lead changes in the third set alone. Pitt State found themselves down 22-20, but scored five unanswered points to win the set 25-22. The Gorillas had five blocks in the third set.
Nicole Rockhold led the Gorillas with 12 kills and added 11 digs for a double-double. Crystal Whitten added eight kills and Brooke Fay, seven. Christa McCaw led the team with 13 digs. Sam Wyatt added 10 kills. Fay and Paula Okrutna led the team with five blocks a piece.
Each team recorded 10.0 blocks on night. Truman outhit the Gorillas .182 to .053.
Truman's Ali Patterson and Allie Brak led their team with 12 kills a piece. Allyson Stellmach led all players with 19 digs.
Pitt State will continue MIAA play against a new team, Lindenwood, in St. Charles at 7 p.m. Saturday (Oct. 20).
