Volleyball Triumphs Over Lindenwood

Box Score ST. CHARLES, Mo. -- Four Gorillas registered double digit kills on the way to a 3-1 (29-27, 21-25, 25-20, 25-21) victory over Lindenwood on Saturday night. It was truly a team win as a different Gorilla led in nearly every category and each player on the court was able to make a important contribution in some portion of the match.

The Gorillas were led by redshirt freshman Haylee Gregory with 14 kills. Brooke Fay added 13 kills, Nicole Rockhold, 11, and Crystal Whitten, 10.

Three Gorillas recorded double-doubles. Rockhold added a team-high 22 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. Setter Becca Pearson recorded 32 assists and 10 digs for her fifth double-double this season. Whitten matched her kills number with 10 digs as well.

Christa McCaw added 19 digs and Paul Okrutna had 11.

Fay led Pitt State with five blocks, the second night in a row she has recorded five blocks. Leah Flynn added four blocks while Gregory and Okrutna each put down three.

Pitt State's serving helped with the win. The team recorded four service aces, but only two service errors. Lindenwood had only three aces, but six service errors. The Pitt State setters also performed well, providing assists on 55 of the team's 60 kills.

Truman's Kayla Guyot led all players with 17 kills. Kaila Schrimpf led with 27 digs.

Pitt State will take to the court again on October 27 in Kearney, Neb. against the No. 5 Lopers.
