Volleyball Takes Long Conference Road Trip

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pitt State Volleyball team will travel to the some of the farthest edges of the MIAA this weekend as they head to Kearney, Neb. to face No. 4 Nebraska-Kearney on Saturday at 4 p.m. and to Hays, Kan. to a battle with Fort Hays State on Sunday at 2 p.m..

The No. 4 Lopers are 23-2 on the season and 9-1 in league play. Their one conference loss came at the hands of  Truman State. The team averages 14.5 kills, 20.5 digs and 1.6 blocks per set.

The Fort Hays State team is 22-9 on the season and 6-6 in the MIAA. The team had won four straight before losing to Nebraska-Kearney on Tuesday in straight sets. The team averages 12.6 kills, 16.5 digs and 2.1 blocks per set.

Pitt State is 12-10 on the year and 3-7 in league play. The team has won three of its last four matches. The Gorillas average 13.2 kills, 17.2 digs and 1.9 blocks per set.

The Gorillas are led by Brooke Fay with 2.46 kills per set, a .297 hitting percentage and 64 blocks on the season. Crystal Whitten matches Fay in kills per set. Nicole Rockhold and Paula Okrutna lead the team in service aces, each with 23 on the year. Rockhold is also the team's digs leader with 3.20 per set. Okrutna is the second leading blocker on the team with 43 total blocks this year. Becca Pearson is the team's top setter with 6.59 assists per set.
