Box Score DURANT, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State Volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Southeastern Oklahoma in a rare Monday night match on November 5. Pitt State improves to 14-13 on the season with the win.
The Gorillas took the first and third sets easily, 25-12 and 25-15. The second set was much closer, 27-25. Pitt State had 13 hitting errors in the second set contributing to the closer game. In the first set Pitt State hit an impressive .467, as they recorded 15 kills in 30 attempts with only one error. The third set was almost as impressive with Pitt State putting down 15 kills on 36 attempts with only three errors.
The Gorilla defense held the Storm to a .084 hitting percentage. The team also managed 62 digs compared to just 46 for the home team.
Pitt State was led by senior Brooke Fay with 14 kills. Crystal Whitten added 12. Both players hit over .450 for the match. Nicole Rockhold was only one kill short of a double-double, as she had nine kills and 14 digs in the match. Setter Becca Pearson was able to put together a double-double with 23 assists and 10 digs.
Megan Kunkel led Southeastern Oklahoma with 11 kills and 10 digs. Taylor Benner added 13 digs for her team.
Pitt State finishes its streak of four matches in five days with a conference battle with Central Oklahoma in Edmond on Monday
