PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State volleyball team lost its fourth straight match, falling by scores of 26-24, 28-26 and 25-18  to Fort Hays State at John Lance Arena Saturday (September 15) afternoon.

Though the scores were close, the Gorillas were not able to take a set from the visiting team. Defense helped the Tigers to the win, as they recorded 10 more digs and outblocked the Gorillas 11.0 to 8.0.

Pitt State had two hitters in double figure kills. Leah Flynn led the team with 11 and Paula Okrutna added 10. Crystal Whitten led the team in digs with 13, while Brooke Fay was just behind her with 11. Jordan Rehm, playing at libero for the first time in her Gorilla career, was just under double figures in kills with nine. Fay led the Gorilla defense at the net with five blocks (one block solo and four block assists). Whitten added three blocks, while Okrutna, Kirsten Erikson and Haylee Gregory each had two.

Kylee Hoagland led the Tigers with 11 kills and Jenna Ulrich added 10. Makenzie Weinman led all players with 22 digs.

The Gorillas will return to action against rival Missouri Southern on Wednesday, September 19. It is Freshman Experience Stand Up and Cheer and the Ninth Annual Pack the Weede Night, so all fans are encouraged to attend and help the Gorillas attempt to break the NCAA attendance record.
