TAHLEQUAH, Okla. — Kaleb Porter led a trio of Pittsburg State players in double figures with 17 points in a hard-fought 64-62 road loss to Northeastern State Wednesday (Jan. 21) at Dobbins Field House.

The Gorillas (12-5, 5-4 MIAA) trailed 34-26 at halftime. After the two sides traded buckets most of the second half Pitt State trailed by just two with a little over five minutes to play following a pair of free throws by Rico Pierrevilus. PSU was able to tie it after a pair of free throws for A.J. Adams with 3:29 left in the contest and take their first lead since the 15:47 mark of the first half after a JaVon McGee jumper with 1:33 on the clock.
 
A bucket by NSU tied the game with 52 seconds remaining. Porter’s jumper from the elbow rimmed out on the ensuing possession and the Riverhawks controlled the rebound. A runner from Bryton Hobbs gave Northeastern State a 64-62 advantage with 6.6 seconds left. Porter drove the lane and kicked it out to Ingram for a shot for the win, but the shot was long giving the Riverhawks the victory.

Porter finished the game with 17 points off the bench, while JaVon McGee added 14 and a team-high 11 rebounds. Marky Nolen chipped in with 10 points.
 
For the game PSU shot .429 (24-56) from the field, including .313 (5-16) from three-point territory. The team also shot .818 (9-11) from the free-throw line. The Gorillas outrebounded Northeastern State 37-31.

The River Hawks (13-4, 6-3 MIAA), who made 24 of 58 shots in the game (.414), got a game-high 23 points from Bryton Hobbs. Jermaine Bransford and Ethan Anderson added 19 and 15 points, respectively.

The Gorillas continue their three-game road swing next Wednesday (Jan. 20), when they take on Missouri Western. Tipoff in St. Joseph, Mo., is set for 7:30 p.m. (CST).
