JOPLIN, Mo. -- The Pitt State volleyball team improved to 9-10 on the season with a 3-1 (25-13, 25-18, 24-26, 25-19) win over Southwestern Oklahoma on Saturday in the team's final game of the Missouri Southern Invitational.
The Gorillas had three players record double-doubles in the match. Crystal Whitten led the team with 19 kills and recorded 11 digs. Madi Mosier recorded 11 kilss and 17 digs and Hayley Hansford added 49 assists and 14 digs. Jordan Rehm also had double figure digs as she led all players with 20. Paula Okrutna was just short of double figure kills with nine.
Both teams were strong on the block, but Pitt State just won the blocks battle by one, 12.0-11.0. Whitten, Mosier and Haylee Gregory each had one solo block and three block assists for the Gorillas.
Pitt State completed the Missouri Southern Invitational with a 3-0 record. The Gorillas will return to Joplin on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. non-conference match with the Lions.
