Volleyball Defeats Lindenwood in MIAA Play

PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State Volleyball team won a high-energy MIAA match over Lindenwood, 3-0 (25-11, 25-22, 25-18) on Saturday (October 26) afternoon at John Lance Arena.

The Gorillas hit .307 for the match, the first time this season the team has hit over .300 in a match this season. The Gorillas tallied 16 more kills and 14 fewer errors in 16 fewer attempts (43-12-101) than the Lions (27-26-117), while holding the Lions to a .009 hitting percentage. Pitt State also outblocked Lindenwood, 8.0 to 3.0. 

Madi Mosier led the Gorillas with 18 kills as she hit .300 in the match. Paula Okrutna added eight kills in 12 attempts with no errors for a .667 attack percentage. Haylee Gregory added six kills and five blocks (one solo and four assisted). Sam Wyatt and Ashlen Schwartz each recorded 14 digs. Hayley Hansford was just short of a double-double with 36 assists and nine digs.

PItt State is now 14-11 overall and 4-6 in league play. Lindenwood falls to 8-15 and 5-4 in the MIAA.

The Gorillas will continue their home stand next week as they nost No. 9 Nebraska-Kearney at 7 p.m. on Friday (Nov. 1) and Fort Hays State Saturday (Nov. 2) at 6:30 p.m.
