PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State Volleyball team will host Nebraska-Kearney and Fort Hays State in MIAA action on Friday, Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
Nebraska-Kearney is currently No. 7 in the AVCA Coaches Top 25 and third in the MIAA with a 8-2 league record and a 22-3 overall record. The team's two loses came at the hands of Lindenwood (3-1) and Washburn (3-2). MJ Massanet was recently named the AVCA National Player of the Week after averaging 4.56 kills and 4.00 digs per set while hitting .326 last week. Ashley Leitner leads the team with 3.83 kps. Erin Steele is the teams setter, averaging 11.25 assists per set. Bailey Sokolowski is the teams blocks leader with 71 blocks on the season for 1.01 bps.
Fort Hays State is 12-13 overall and 3-8 in MIAA play, ranking them 10th in the league. The team's three conference wins were over Northwest Missouri State, Missouri Southern and Southwest Baptist. Taylor Mares leads the Tigers with 2.73 kps. Makenzie Weinman leads the team with 4.78 dps. Jenna Ulrich is the leading blocker for Fort Hays with a 1.53 bps.Â
The Gorillas a 14-11 overall and 4-6 in the MIAA to place them eighth in the conference. Pitt State is led by Madi Mosier with 2.63 kps and Paula Okrutna who hits at a .280 clip. Hayley Hansford is the team's setter with 10.01 assists per set. Kirsten Erikson leads the team with 17 service aces. Libero Jordan Rehm leads the Gorillas with 4.87 dps. Okrutna and Haylee Gregory lead the team in blocks with 72 and 71, respectively, on the season.Â
