PITTSBURG, Kan -- The Pittsburg State Volleyball team (15-14, 5-9 MIAA) will close out the regular season with two home matches this week.

The week opens as the Gorillas take on Central Oklahoma (20-9, 8-7 MIAA) at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 11. The Bronchos are currently fourth in the MIAA standings and is one of five teams to have clinched a spot in the MIAA Tournament. The Bronchos average 12.6 kills and 17.4 digs per set. The team has a .213 hitting percentage on the season and has 216.0 total blocks for 2.1 blocks per set. The team split matches last weekend, defeating Emporia State 3-1 on Friday before losing 3-0 to Washburn on Saturday.

Saturday (November 16) the Gorillas will play their final home game against Missouri Southern (4-24, 0-14 MIAA) at 6:30 p.m. The four Pittsburg State seniors, Christa McCaw, Abbie Smith, Jordan Rehm and Kirsten Eriksen will be recognized before the match. It is also the annual Pack the Weede night and all fans with a football ticket can get into the volleyball match free. 

Missouri Southern averages 10.6 kps while hitting at a .140 clip. Defensively, the Lions record 11.9 dps and have 193.5 blocks on the year for 1.9 blocks per set. The team has lost 11 games straight.

The Gorillas are hitting at a .179 clip on the season. The team averages 12.1 kills and 17.7 digs per set. It has recorded 201.0 blocks on the season for 1.9 blocks per set. 

The Gorillas are led by Madi Mosier with 2.73 kps and a .263 hitting percentage. Paula Okrutna (1.98) and Abbie Smith (1.87) each average just under two kills per set. Hayley Hansford is the team's setter and averages 9.88 assists per set. Kirsten Erikson is the team's leader in aces with 19 for the year. Jordan Rehm records 4.59 digs per set to pace the Gorillas in that category. Ashlen Schwartz just just over two digs per set (2.39), while Hansford (1.95) and Sam Waytt (1.96) are just under two digs per set. Okrutna and Haylee Gregory lead the team in blocks. Okrutna has 82 on the season for 0.78 bps, while Gregory has 81 blocks for 0.86 bps.
