PITTSBURG, Kan. -- For the second night in a row, The Pittsburg State Volleyball team's match went to five sets. This time, the Gorillas (15-12, 5-7 MIAA) came out on the winning end with a 3-2 (25-18, 25-18, 21-25, 20-25, 15-10) win over Fort Hays State (12-15, 3-10 MIAA) on Saturday (November 2) evening.

The teams had the same number of kills in the first two sets, but Fort Hays State had 10 attack errors in each set to help push the Gorillas to a 2-0 lead in the match.

The third set the teams swapped places, though Pitt State had only one less kill, they had four more errors than the visiting Tigers. In set four FHSU just outplayed the Gorillas, with 16 kills. Pitt State had only seven with seven hitting errors.

In the final set Fort Hays State hit eight points first, but the Gorillas allowed the Tigers only two more points in teh remainder of the set. Pitt State hit .217 for the set, while allowing FHSU only a -.036 hitting percentage.

Madi Mosier led the Gorillas with a career-high 21 kills. Paula Okrutna and Abbie Smith were just under double figures with nine and eight kills, respectively. Jordan Rehm, Sam Wyatt and Ashlen Schwartz each recorded 15 digs. Kirsten Erikson added 11 and Hayley Hansford had 10. Hansford also had 47 assists for a double-double. Okrutna lead the Gorillas with three block assists. Maggie Highberger, Madi Mosier and Haylee Gregory each put down two blocks. 

Pitt State will play its last road matches of the 2013 regular season next weekend with a trip to Washburn at 7 p.m. on Friday and Emporia State at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
