Bullard, Gorillas Roll to 108-77 Win Over Bethany

PITTSBURG -- Jake Bullard scored a game-high 27 points to pace Pittsburg State University to a 108-77 victory over Bethany College in the Pitt State Classic Friday (Nov. 22).

The Gorillas (1-2) led 48-38 over the Swedes at the half, before pulling away in the final 20 minutes to play. Bullard scored 18 of his 27 points in the second period.

Five other Gorillas scored in double figures in the contest: Trevor Gregory (16), Ethan Cordray (16), Sam Pugh (12), Alex Williams (12) and Josiah Gustafson (12).

Pugh recorded a double-double with 12 points and a game-high 10 assists.

Terrell Eaddy scored six points and pulled down a game-high 12 rebounds.

Pitt State shot 62.1 percent from the field in the game (36-58), including 73.3 percent in the second half (22-30). The Gorillas also made 28 of 39 free throws in the contest as the Swedes were whistled for 29 personal fouls.

In the first game of the tournament, Missouri Southern rolled to a 108-67 victory over Avila on the strength of a game-high 22 points from Marquis Addison.

The Lions will now face Bethany at 1 p.m. (CST) Saturday in day-two action of the Pitt State Classic, while the Gorillas will take on Avila at 3 p.m.
