PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team made a school record 14 3-point field goals to propel the Gorillas to a 96-82 victory over Avila University in the final game of the Pitt State Classic Saturday (Nov. 23).

Pitt State (2-2) converted 50 percent of its long-range shots in the contest, knocking in 14 of 28 attempts.

Jake Bullard led a balanced Pitt State attack with a team-leading 21 points. Bullard made nine of 11 shots from the field and added seven rebounds and eight assists in the contest.

Connor Kjer chipped in with a season-best 18 points for the Gorillas, while Sam Pugh added 16 points and eight assists. Josiah Gustafson finished with 15 points and Ethan Cordray added 13 points on the strength of four treys.

Trey Bales led all scorers with 22 points to pace the visiting Eagles, while Sedrick Johnson and Brandon Murillo added 18 apiece.

The Gorillas will return to action Nov. 29-30 when they travel to Canyon, Texas, to take part in the West Texas A&M University Thanksgiving Shootout.
