TOPEKA, Kan. -- The Pitt State men’s basketball team lost 67-51 to No. 21 Washburn at Lee Arena on Saturday (Feb. 2) evening.

Kaleb Porter led the Gorillas with 11 points. He scored all 11 in the second half. Markey Nolen was just short of a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds. Jake Bullard also scored nine and A.J. Adams added eight points.

Pitt State shot 34 percent from the floor overall and 38 percent from long-range. The Ichabods shot 40 percent overall, but were held to just 20 percent from three-point range. Washburn outrebounded the Gorillas 41-30.

Pitt State hung close early in the first half, but an 8-0 Ichabod run from 6:42 to 4:17 gave the home team their first double digit lead of the game. Turnovers and foul trouble hurt the team late in the half, allowing Washburn to build a 14-point lead at the half, 35-21. Pierrevilus, Nolen and Adams each had only two fouls to play with in the second half.

The Gorillas did not allow any big Washburn runs in the second half and kept the second half scoring fairly even, but were not able to overcome their first half deficit.

Saturday ends a streak of three-consecutive road games for the Gorillas. The team returns to John Lance Arena on Thursday (February 7) for a 7:30 p.m. game with Truman.
