PITTSBURG -- Pittsburg State used a 13-2 run early in the second half to take control en route to a lopsided 82-55 victory over Emporia State in the regular season finale for both teams at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court Saturday (Mar. 2).

The Gorillas finished the regular season 17-9 overall and 10-8 in MIAA action, while the Hornets slipped to 13-13 overall and 8-10 in the MIAA.

Pitt State has secured the No. 7 seed for the upcoming MIAA Postseason Tournament and the Gorillas will host No. 10 seed Truman at 7 p.m. (CST) Monday. The Bulldogs (10-16, 7-11 MIAA) posted a 63-56 victory over NW Missouri State Saturday.

Kaleb Porter led all scorers with 20 points to pace the Gorillas' efforts on Senior Day against the Hornets. He knocked down five of Pitt State's 11 3-pointers in the contest.

Jake Bullard and Courtney Ingram added 10 apiece for the Gorillas, while JaVon McGee and Rico Pierrevilus chipped in with nine apiece. Marky Nolen added eight points and a game-high eight rebounds.

Kaleb Wright scored a team-leading 16 points for ESU, while Terrence Moore and Tre Boutilier added 10 apiece.
