PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pittsburg State Volleyball team (5-8, 2-3 MIAA) continues league play on Tuesday (October 1) at 7 p.m. against the Southwest Baptist Bearcats (8-4, 1-2 MIAA) in Bolivar, Mo.

The Gorillas sit right infront of the Bearcats in the MIAA standings in sixth place, while SBU is seventh. Most recently, the Bearcats won their first MIAA match of the season in a 3-2 thriller over Missouri Southern. The team's two conference losses were to Lindenwood and Central Missouri. 

As a team, Southwest Baptist hits at a .182 clips and averages 11.5 kps, while allowing opponents 12.70 kps. The team records 15.77 dps and has 115.5 blocks on the season for 2.62 bps.

Nikki Madoch leads the team with 2.41 kps, while Mackynzi Gibson adds 2.19 kps. Kelsey Fankhauser leads teh team in assists with 8.61 aps. Hannah Blount leads the team with 4.50 dps and Chelsey McKinley adds 2.14 dps. Jordan Nedbalek is the teams block leader with 61 blocks (eight solo and 53 assisted). Taryn Marton leads in aces with 13, while Madoch adds 11.

The Gorillas also average 11.5 kps while hitting at a .139 clip. The team is strong on defense with 18.4 dps and 91.0 digs for 2.0 dps. 

Crystal Whitten is a leader for the Gorillas with 4.32 kps and 2.93 dps. Abibe Smith has continued to become a bigger player for the Gorillas this season and now averages over two kills per set at 2.10. Jordan Reghm leads the Gorillas with 5.04 dps. Haylee Gregory (0.83 bps), Paula Okrutna (0.75 bps) and Madi Mosier (0.69 bps) are the team's blocks leaders. Mosier and Whitten also lead the team in service aces with seven a piece. Hayley Hansford averages 9.20 aps as the team's setter.
