Volleyball Finishes Pitt State Classic

The Pitt State Volleyball team lost its final two matches of the Pittsburg State Volleyball Classic to Rockhurst and Missouri Western, both by 3-0 scores. 

The Gorillas lost match one to Rockhurst. The Hawks finished the tournament 4-0 and did not lose a set. Pitt State fell by scores of 25-21, 25-14 and 25-10.

Rockhurst outhit the Gorillas .233 to .065 and outblocked the home team 7.0 to 4.0.

Individually Crystal Whitten notched double figure kills with 13. Jordan Rehm led the team with 15 digs. Paula Okrutna had a team-leading three block assists. 

Rockhurst had no hitters in double figures, though they had four with eight or more kills in the match. Four different players achieved double figures in digs.

Pitt State fell by scores of 25-18, 25-21 and 25-18 to Missouri Western. 

The Griffons hit .205 to .081 for the Gorillas. Each team put up 8.0 team blocks.

Whitten led the Gorillas with a double-double, recording 12 kills and 10 digs. Jordan Rehm added 13 digs. Haylee Gregory led the team with six total blocks, one solo and six assisted. Madi Mosier and Gregory each added six kills for the Gorillas and each hit over .400 for the team.

The Gorillas will play their first road matches of the season next weekend as they travel to Warrensburg. Mo. for the Peggy Martin Classic on September 13-14.
