PITTSBURG, Kan. -- No Gorilla player played more than 15 minutes, and no one less than 11, as all players contributed to a 91-41 win over NAIA Saint Mary on Thursday (January 2) in John Lance Arena.
All but two players scored in the game, led by Lizzy Jeronimus with 16 and Kylie Gafford with 14. Cathy Brugman and Deja Snell each chipped in eight off the bench. Alex Muff led the team with eight rebounds, while Jeronimus had seven. Freshman Hadyn Herlocker put forth a great effort with five points, four rebounds, five assists and four steals.
As a team, the Gorillas had 18 assists and 13 steals with only 12 turnovers. The Spires had 25 turnovers and the Gorillas were able to score 29 points off those turnovers. The Gorillas shot 58 percent from the floor in the game.
Jennifer Harmon led the Spires with 13 points, while Adelyn Ezeh added nine.
Pitt State will return to MIAA play, playing only its second conference contest of the season, on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. against Lindenwood in St. Charles.
