Volleyball Team Falls in Five Sets to UCCS

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team completed day one action of the University of Colorado-Colorado Springs Invitational Friday (Sept. 12) with a tough five-set loss to the host school.

The Gorillas (3-3) dropped a 25-22, 20-25, 25-19, 26-28, 15-13 decision to UCCS (2-4). It marked Pitt State's fourth straight five-set match.

Madi Mosier paced Pitt State's offensive attack with 18 kills, while Ashley Bell and Maggie Highberger added 12 kills apiece. Hayley Hansford posted 54 assists and nine digs in the match, while Ashlen Schwartz chipped in with 26 digs.

The Gorillas will wrap up the two-day tournament action Saturday with a Noon match against Adams State. Pitt State then will travel to Pueblo, Colo., to face Colorado State-Pueblo at 8 p.m.
