PITTSBURG, Kan. -- The Pitt State volleyball team ended the 2015 season with a 2-27 overall record and a 2-16 record in MIAA play after a 3-1 loss (25-17, 23-25, 25-20, 25-16) to Emporia State on Saturday (November 14).
Maggie Highberger led the Gorillas with 10 kills. Noelle Dooley added 8 and Shelbey Baker, 7. Hayley Hansford recorded a double-double in her last match as a Gorilla with 22 assists and 14 digs. Taylyn Schwartz added 14 assists in her final match. Taylor Wright led the team with 25 digs.Â
Emporia State put down 11 team blocks and hit .267 in the match. They also had 15 more digs than the Gorillas. Pitt State had 4.0 team blocks and hit .095 for the match.
The Hornets won the first set, 25-17. Pitt State led the entire second set, though they did fight off three tie scores, to win the second set, 25-23. Emporia State came back to win the final two sets and the match.
