Gorillas Hold On For 8-6 VIctory Over Bearcats

PITTSBURG -- The Pittsburg State Univeristy baseball team held on for an 8-6 victory over Northwest Missouri State University Sunday (Mar. 29) at Al Ortolani Field.

The Gorillas improved to 9-18 overall and 5-11 in MIAA play, while the Bearcats dropped to 15-15 and 11-9 in the MIAA.

Pitt State built an 8-2 lead then had to overcome a four-run seventh by Northwest to secure the four-game series split. Ryan McKay recorded the final four outs for his fifth save of the season and the 16th of his three year career – setting the Pitt State career saves record. Blaine Fisher (2-3) earned the win.

Andrew Kreiling and Andrew Vogelbaugh each went 3-for-5 to lead the Gorillas 13-hit attack. Kreiling belted a solo home run in the game. Jack Mercer went 1-for-1 with two RBI and drew three walks in the contest.
