PITTSBURG – The Pitt State Volleyball team (5-20, 3-10 MIAA) lost a 3-1 decision to No. 15 Central Missouri (17-8, 7-6 MIAA) on Saturday afternoon.
Central Missouri won the first set, 25-17, but the Gorillas rallied back for a 25-20 win in set two. The Jennies took the final two sets, 25-17 and 25-20.
Pitt State outblocked the visitors, 5.0 to 4.0 and both teams recorded 57 digs. Central Missouri put down 55 kills to the Gorillas' 45.
Lauren Regier led Pitt State with 13 kills on the afternoon. Taylor Unke added nine, as she hit .533 for the match with only one attack error. Noelle Dooley and Maggie Highberger each put down eight kills. Ashlen Schwartz led the team with 20 digs. Zoey Qi was important defensively with one solo block and three block assists.
The Gorillas will play their final home match on Tuesday (November 1) at 6 p.m. against No. 9 Central Oklahoma.
