EDMOND -- The No. 10 Central Oklahoma volleyball team defeated the Gorillas, 3-0 (25-17, 25-12, 25-12) on Tuesday (October 4).Â
Pitt State had only three fewer kills than the nationally ranked team, but the Bronchos had only six attack errors through the three sets, while the Gorillas committed 28. The Bronchos were also helped by 9.0 total blocks and three service aces.Â
Maggie Highberger led Pittsburg State with nine kills. Lauren Regier added five, while Zoey Qi and Payton Walker each had four. Qi, Regier, Taylor Unke and Kylie Farris each put down a block assist. Ashlen Schwartz helped the team with 11 digs.Â
This was the first of three matches on the week for the Gorillas. The team will play both Southwest Baptist and Missouri Southern at home. The Bearcats come to Pittsburg Friday at 6 p.m., while the Lions step into John Lance Arena at 6 p.m. on Saturday.Â
