Pitt State Announces Parking Plan for Home Opener

PITTSBURG -- With the first home game of the Gorillas' 2016 football season being on a Thursday night when class is in session has presented some unique challenges, but Pittsburg State University officials have worked to clarify parking availability that day, as well as prepare for events surrounding the game. 

Parking Information:
Champions Plaza and Gorilla Grove parking lots will close at 10 p.m. on Wednesday, August 31. These lots will reopen for tailgating at 1 p.m. on Thursday, September 1. Parking on McPherson Drive will remain open throughout the day on Thursday and be available at no charge.

Parking in Champions Plaza is available for $10. Parking in GameDay lots (with the exception of Gold Pass parking) is available for $5. RVs should park in the Gorilla Grove GameDay parking lot. Cost for RVs is $20.

Gorilla Fest in Gorilla Village:
Enjoy family-friendly games, delicious food from regional vendors and live entertainment during Gorilla Fest. Sponsored by Pittsburg State's Alumni and Constituent Relations, Gorilla Fest offers large inflatable games, balloon artists, hair painting and much more. This week's live entertainment is the Shane Duling Band from Pittsburg. The festivities start at 4 p.m. and conclude with the traditional pep rally featuring thePride of the Plains Marching Band, Pitt State Spirit Squad and Crimson and Gold Dancers.

Gorilla Grove:
The newest addition to the Gorilla GameDay experience, Gorilla Grove is a special student-centered area and the first stop on the historic Gorilla Walk. Students can rent Gorilla Grove tents in advance of GameDay for just $10 through the Pittsburg State Ticket Office. These tents are only available to Pittsburg State students and must be reserved in person at the ticket office. Please bring your valid student ID with you. Tents will be put in place and removed by Pittsburg State personnel the day of the game.

The home opener will feature live entertainment at the Grove from the Wichita-based Adam Capps Band.

Ticket Information:
Tickets are available online or at the PSU Ticket Office located within the Garfield Weede Building. Prices range from $15 to $20 in advance or $25 the day of the game. Discounted tickets for Pittsburg State students, faculty and staff are available with a valid PSU ID but must be purchased in advance at the PSU Ticket Office.

The Carnie Smith Stadium Ticket Office will open at 5 p.m. for purchases and will-call pickup.
