Griffons Down Gorillas in Straight Sets


PITTSBURG — The Missouri Western State University volleyball team posted a straight set victory over Pittsburg State University Saturday (Oct. 14) at John Lance Arena. The Griffons defeated the Gorillas 25-22, 25-15, 25-18.

Stephanie Doak (14) and Ali Tauchen (10) combined for 24 kills in the match to pace Western (13-9, 7-2 MIAA).  Kayla Ruff added 21 digs and Lauren Murphy finished the match with 39 assists.

Pitt State (3-18, 0-9 MIAA) got a team-leading six kills from Noelle Dooley, while Mia Bledsoe added five kills. Lauren Dunn paced the defense with 14 digs.
