PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team rolled to a record-breaking 120-31 victory over Baptist Bible College Saturday (Dec. 16) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
The Gorillas (7-5) set school records for points scored (120), margin of victory (89 pts) and assists (32) while equaling the school record for field goals made (49) against the Patriots.
Donovan Franklin led seven Pitt State players in double figure scoring with 18 points, while Xavier Adams added 16 points. Brandon Clifford (15), Grant Lozoya (13) Jaxon Holden (12), Robbie Ostermann (12) and Christian Edmondson (11) also reached double digits as the Gorillas shot 62 percent from the field in the game, making 49 of 79 shots overall.
Mar'Qywell Jackson added nine points, while Jonathan Murray finished with eight points and a team-leading seven rebounds.
Dakota Jones scored two points but dished out a team-best seven assists, while Franklin and Lozoya added five assists apiece. Franklin also added a team-leading four steals as the Gorillas forced the Patriots into 27 turnovers.
BBC, which converted just 13 of 59 shots in the game (.220), got eight points from Colton Simmons and seven from Seth Thompson.
Pitt State eclipsed the previous single-game scoring record of 119 points set against Lincoln University in 1966.
