OKLAHOMA CITY -- Emporia State University's Hailey Cope belted a one-out home run in the top of the eighth inning to break a scoreless tie and lift the Lady Hornets to a 1-0 victory over the Pittsburg State University softball team Friday (Apr. 28) at the ASA Hall of Fame Complex.
The Lady Hornets advance to the elimination bracket semifinals to meet Missouri Western State University. The Gorillas season ends with a 42-17 overall record. Pitt State will now await the NCAA Division II National Tournament announcement to see if its season extends.
Emmie Robertson (29-8) went the distance in the loss to ESU. She allowed six hits and two walks while striking out five batters. ESU's Eryn Stockman (23-12) limited Pitt State to three hits. She fanned seven batters.
