EDMOND, Okla. -- The Pittsburg State University volleyball team split a pair of matches on day one action of the MIAA/GAC Crossover Tournament Thursday (Sept. 13).
The Gorillas opened the day with a thrilling five-set victory over Southwestern Oklahoma State University, taking the match 25-21, 22-25, 20-25, 25-20, 15-9. Southeastern Oklahoma State University handed Pitt State a three-set loss in the second match of the day, 25-20, 25-10, 25-21.
Against SWOSU, Lauren Regier paced the Gorillas with 15 kills and eight total blocks, while Noelle Dooley added 10 kills. Carolina VanBuskirk made 28 assists in the match, while Kylie Farris added 19 assists. Lauren Maisberger chipped in with a team-leading 21 digs.
Against SEOSU, Regier totaled a team-leading 12 kills for the Gorillas.
Pitt State will return to action in the MIAA/GAC Crossover Friday with a 10 a.m. match at Bethany, Okla., against Northwestern Oklahoma State University. The Gorillas will close out the two-day tournament with a 6 p.m. match against Southern Nazarene University.
