BOLIVAR, Mo. — The Southwest Baptist University volleyball team battled back from a 2-1 deficit to knock off Pittsburg State University, 3-2, in the MIAA opener for both teams Friday (Sept. 22).
The Bearcats (2-13, 1-0 MIAA) won the competitive match 24-26, 27-25, 16-25, 25-12, 15-13. The Gorillas (3-10, 0-1 MIAA) will return to action Saturday (Sept. 23) with a 2 p.m. road match against Missouri Southern State University.
Lauren Regier led three Pitt State players in double figure kills with 13. Noelle Dooley added 11 kills and Mia Bledsoe finished the match with 10.
Carolina VanBuskirk made 24 assists and put down four service aces. Lauren Maisberger paced the Pitt State defense with 18 digs.
