Gorillas Face Road Test Against UCO Tuesday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University volleyball team will travel to Edmond, Okla., Tuesday (Sept. 26) for a mid-week match against MIAA rival University of Central Oklahoma. First serve is set for 7 p.m.

Pitt State is 3-11 overall and 0-2 in MIAA play.  The Gorillas dropped a pair of road matches to Southwest Baptist University (3-2) Friday (Sept. 22) and Missouri Southern State University (3-0) Saturday (Sept. 23).
 
Junior rightside hitter Lauren Regier has compiled a team-leading 154 kills (2.91 kps) on the season while junior rightside hitter Noelle Dooley has added 126 kills (2.47 kps).
 
Freshmen middle blocker Emily Regier has contributed 0.85 blocks per set to lead the team at the net and sophomore defensive specialist Lauren Maisberger has added 4.00 digs per set to help pace the Pitt State defense.
 
The Opponent:
UCO is 15-1 overall and 2-0 in the MIAA. The Bronchos, who have won 12 straight matches, opened conference action last week with road wins over MSSU (3-0) and SBU (3-0) last week. UCO has posted straight-set wins in 12 of its 16 matches on the year.
 
Offensively junior outside hitter Taylor Bevis leads the Bronchos with 4.97 kills per set while junior middle hitter Jordan Spence adds 2.33 kills per set. Sophomore defensive specialist Dominique Lipari averages 4.58 digs per set. Senior Alexis Washington (1.17 bps) and junior Jordan Spence (0.96 bps) lead the Bronchos at the net.

Pitt State will make its home debut Friday (Sept. 29) when the Gorillas host Nebraska-Kearney at 6 p.m. Pitt State also will entertain Fort Hays State Saturday (Sept. 30) at 6 p.m.
