Box Score PITTSBURG, Kan. — The Pittsburg State volleyball team debuted their first home game of the season with a straight set loss against University of Nebraska-Kearney Friday (Sept. 29). The Lopers defeated the Gorillas 25-21, 25-11, 25-21.
UNK (15-1, 4-0 MIAA) got a match-high 10 kills from Tara Ziegelbein, while Madi Stearnes and Kaitlynn Thomas both added 6 kills. Lindsey Smith added 32 assists for the Lopes, with Ellie McDonnell compiling 13 digs.
Pitt State (3-13, 0-4 MIAA) had 30 kills on 90 attempts hitting 0.133 as a team. Noelle Dooley contributed the team-high 9 kills and Lauren Regier followed with 7 kills. Carolina Vanbuskirk recorded 14 assists with Kylie Farris contributing 11. Lauren Dunn led the defense with 10 digs on the match.
Pitt State will finish off the weekend Saturday (Sept. 30) at 6 pm against Fort Hays State University at John Lance Arena.Â
