Box Score ST. CHARLES, MO. -- The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team took control early to capture an 85-65 victory over Lindenwood University on Saturday (Jan. 13).
Pitt State (10-7, 3-5 MIAA) led by as many as 24 points, 58-34, with 12:07 to play in the contest, while Lindenwood (11-6, 3-5 MIAA) was outscored 46-38 in the second half.
Xavier Adams finished with a game high of 18 points for the Gorillas, while Grant Lozoya added 16 points. Jabari Antwine (15), Cole (10) and Demetrius Levarity (12) also scored in double figures.
The Gorillas outscored the Lions, 16-6, at the free throw line. Pitt State made 11 of 25 three-point shots compared to 7 of 22 shooting by Lindenwood.
The Lions got a team-leading 23 points from Brad Newman, while TJ Crockett added 10. Lions shot 44.8 percent from the field (26 of 58).
Pitt State will return to action Wednesday (Jan. 17) when the Gorillas host Emporia State University at 7:30 p.m. in John Lance Arena.
