TAHLEQUAH, Okla. -- Shelby Lopez and Mikaela Burgess combined to score 42 points to lead the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team to a 65-50 road win over Northeastern State University Saturday (Jan. 27) at the NSU Event Center.
Lopez scored a game-high 22 points while Burgess added 20 points as the Gorillas improve to 16-5 overall and 9-3 in MIAA play. Lopez made seven of 12 shots, including three 3-pointers.
Pitt State shot 43.5 percent from the field in the contest (27-62). Madison Northcutt added eight points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Athena Alvarado added nine points, while Paige Imhoff dished out a game-high nine assists.
NSU (9-9, 5-6 MIAA) converted just 34.5 percent of its shots (19-55). Bailee Eldred paced the RiverHawks with 13 points, while Lauryn Blevins added 11 points and seven rebounds.
