Wildcats Take Control Early in 79-39 Exhibition Win Over Gorillas


MANHATTAN, Kan. — The Kansas State University men's basketball team scored the game's first 13 points and the Wildcats never looked back in a 79-39 exhibition game victory over Pittsburg State University Friday (Nov. 2).

The Gorillas took the court for the second time in as many nights against Big 12 Conference foes. Pitt State dropped a 92-49 exhibition decision to the University of Oklahoma at Norman, Okla., Thursday.

Senior guard Donovan Franklin paced the Gorillas with 11 points, while senior forward Demetrius Levarity and senior guard Grant Lozoya added seven points apiece. Freshman guard Ray Elliott chipped in with six points.

Kamau Stokes and Dean Wade scored 14 points apiece to lead Kansas State. Stokes also dished out a game-high six assists, while Wade grabbed nine rebounds.

Pitt State will open the regular season next Friday and Saturday (Nov. 9-10) when the Gorillas compete in the two-day MIAA/GAC/NSIC Challenge at Warrensburg, Mo. Pitt State will face Wayne State College Friday at 5 p.m. (CST) and Harding University Saturday at 6 p.m.
