Gorillas Roll to 107-63 Victory Over Sentinels Thursday

PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team rolled to a 107-63 victory over Nebraska Christian Thursday (Nov. 29) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.

Grant Lozoya led four Pitt State players in double figure scoring with 32 points, followed by Donovan Franklin with 20 points. Ray Elliott (15) and Trenton Clayton (12) also reached double digits as the Gorillas shot 45.9 percent from the field in the game, making 34 of 74 shots overall.

R.J. Lawrence added eight points, while Marcel Cherry finished with seven points.

Demetrius Levarity scored five points but recorded a team-best two blocks, while Franklin dished out a team-high six assists. Franklin also added a team-leading five steals as the Gorillas forced the Sentinels into 27 turnovers.

The Gorillas owned a 48-36 rebounding advantage over the smaller Sentinels. Pitt State made 8 of 28 three-point shots in the contest (.286).
 
NC, which converted just 22 of 61 shots in the game (.361), got 26 points from D.J. Hanes and 12 from T.J. Rivera.
 
Pitt State will return to action Wednesday (Dec. 5) when the Gorillas host MIAA rival Northeastern State University at 7:30 p.m.
