PITTSBURG — The Pittsburg State University men's basketball team shot 71 percent from the field in the first half and the Gorillas rolled to a 98-61 victory over Baker University Saturday (Dec. 30) at John Lance Arena/Whetzel Court.
Pitt State (9-2) made 22 of 31 shots from the floor in the opening 20 minutes of play, building a 58-37 cushion against the NAIA member Wildcats.
Grant Lozoya led all scorers with 25 points as the Gorillas got double-digit scoring from three players. Donovan Franklin added 15 points and Trenton Clayton finished with a season-high 14 points. Demetrius Levarity chipped in with nine points, while A.J. Walker finished with eight.
Lozoya added a game-high seven assists in the contest as Pitt State posted 17 helpers in the game.
Charles Fisher led the Wildcats with 16 points, while Clae Martin finished with 13. Brandon Clifford, who transferred to Baker after playing the previous two seasons for the Gorillas, also scored 11 points.
