PITTSBURG — Pittsburg State University athletics director Jim Johnson announced today (June 18) that Lance Moser has been hired as the Gorillas assistant athletic director for external engagement.

Moser comes to Pitt State after serving the past three years as assistant director of marketing at the University of North Dakota. He served as the primary marketing contact for men's basketball, football tailgating, women's soccer and fan fests at other special events.
Â
"My family and I are very excited to be joining the Pittsburg community and becoming part of Gorilla Nation," Moser said. "I want to thank President Scott and Jim Johnson for giving us this opportunity. While it's hard to say goodbye to so many great people at North Dakota, we're very excited for what the future holds at Pittsburg State."
Â
In his role at Pitt State, Moser will serve as the primary staff member in intercollegiate athletics to represent the program in the community and with other external constituents and manage all external engagement activities. He will manage all aspects of overall program promotion through broadcasting and social media. Moser also will manage and oversee all promotional aspects of football and basketball games administration. He also will work with the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and Gorilla student-athletes and coaches in coordinating community engagement and outreach activities.
Â
"We are excited to have Lance join our administrative team," Johnson said. "Lance has the unique skill set we were looking for with our external engagement position. He has a proven track record of success at UND and in his previous employment. He's a team player who I believe will be a great asset to our staff, coaches and student-athletes and a great fit in engaging our many constituencies in Gorilla Nation."
Â
Prior to his tenure at UND, Moser served as a marketing assistant at Bradley University for a year, serving as the primary marketing contact for volleyball, women's basketball and baseball. He also served as a digital sales specialist for the Columbus (Neb.) Telegram and a sports marketing intern for Coyote Sports Properties at the University of South Dakota in Vermillion, S.D.
Â
A native of Columbus, Neb., Moser served as a sports information intern for three years at Wayne (Neb.) State College and earned a bachelor's of natural and social science degree in sports management in December 2009. He then worked in various marketing roles for two years at the University of South Dakota. Moser earned a master's of arts degree in kinesiology and sports science in May 2012.
