MARYVILLE, Mo. – Megan Scott scored a season-high 16 points as the Pittsburg State University women's basketball team pulled away for a 69-48 win over Northwest Missouri State University Thursday (Jan. 31) at Bearcat Arena.
The Gorillas (16-4, 8-3 MIAA) shot 53 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes of play, making 15 of 28 shots. Pitt State led 36-18 at halftime against the Bearcats (7-12, 3-7 MIAA).
Maya Williams added a game-high 19 points for the Gorillas, while Scott posted her first career double-double with 16 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Tristan Gegg also chipped in with eight points, while Marina Bauza Rubert came off the bench to contribute seven points.
NWMSU got a team-high nine points apiece from Jaelyn Haggard and Kendey Eaton.
The Gorillas will return to action Saturday (Feb. 2) when they travel to St. Joseph, Mo., to face MIAA rival Missouri Western State University at 2 p.m. (CST).
