PITTSBURG, Kan.—The Pittsburg State University Volleyball team was able to rebound and snap a three-game losing streak on Saturday as they defeated the Fort Hays State University Tigers in three straight sets here inside John Lance Arena.
The Gorillas won by set scores of 25-14, 25-10 and 25-19. They improve to 10-10 on the season and 5-6 in the MIAA while the Tigers fall to 6-13 overall and 3-8 inside the conference.
The Gorillas easily won the first set before falling behind early in the second set. They rallied back and took a 9-5 lead in the second set forcing the Tigers to take a timeout. Also in the third set the Tigers jumped out to an early lead however, they posted huge runs that included long rallies for the wins.
The Gorillas were led by Meg Auten and Erika Ivkov, who posted 12 and 10 kills, respectively.
The Gorillas stay put for a Tuesday match up with the University of Central Oklahoma at 6 p.m.
They will than return to the road next Friday and Saturday for tilts with Central Missouri (Friday) and Northwest Missouri (Saturday).
