PITTSBURG, Kan.—The Pittsburg State University Volleyball team completed their three game home stand with a 2-1 record as they defeated the University of Central Oklahoma in four sets. They win with scores of 28-26, 25-22, 19-25 and 25-13.
With the win the Gorillas improved to 11-10 overall and 6-6 in the MIAA while the Bronchos fell to 15-7 overall and 7-5 in the MIAA.
The first set saw the Gorillas jump out to an early lead, however, the Bronchos came rallied back and forced the set to go to extra points, with Pitt State taking the win at 28-26.
The second set saw the Gorillas start flat-footed and they trailed by as many as five points, 9-4, but they capitalized on key plays that included two straight blocks to take a 25-22 win.
The third set saw the Gorillas outkill the Bronchos but they couldn't overcome the hot start that Central Oklahoma got as they lost. The fourth set was dominated by the Gorillas.
Emily Regier had a breakout night for Pitt State as she tallied 16 kills while teammate Erika Ivkov had 15 and Meg Auten had 12.
Pitt State will hit the road this weekend for a pair of MIAA matches against the University of Central Missouri Friday (Oct. 25) and Northwest Missouri State University Saturday (Oct. 26).
