ST. JOESPHS, Mo.—Just two days after snapping a three-game losing streak with a five-set win at Newman, the Pittsburg State University Gorillas dropped a three-set match to Missouri Western on Thursday.

The Gorillas lost by set scores of 25-17, 25-16 and 25-15.

With the loss the Gorilla fall to 8-7 overall and 3-3 in Mid-America Intercollege Athletics Association (MIAA) action.

The first set saw a quick start by Pitt State but a huge run by Missouri Western propelled the Griffons to a 13-7 lead. The Gorillas did not give up, as they rallied back with a 6-1 run to pull within one at 14-13. The Griffons regrouped and won the first set 25-17.

Missouri Western took an early lead in the second set and never looked back as they won the second set, 25-16.

The Gorillas were led by Morgan Henning who had 12 kills in the match while Erika Ivkov had 26 total attacks.

The Gorillas return home next Friday and Saturday for MIAA matches against Emporia State (6 p.m.) on Friday and Washburn (2 p.m.) on Saturday at John Lance Arena.
